560SEC - Cylinder Order

I just changed the wires and plugs on my 89 560SEC. I know that cylinders 1-4 are on the passenger side and that the cylinders 5-8 are on the driver's side but in which order? Does it go #1,#2,#3,#4 starting from the front of the engine to the back? Or vice versa? I just want to put the right wire on the right plug. Also does anyone know what the timing should be for this engine?

Front of the engine is #1 on the passenger side. Then 2, 3, & 4 all on the passenger side.
