96 E320 turn signal loose

My 96 E320 signal lever is loose, I noticed that the plastic cover that clips to the steering column is out of place. Putting it back and taping the cover to the column helps but still needs fixing. I went to the dealer but that part comes with the turn signal assy, any suggestions? I also noticed that when its loose , the high beam is always on, is ther anything loose on the turn signal assy also?

Mine did the same thing last year,I just super glued the cover back on, it wouldn't stay on. I don't drive much at night so it doesn't really bother me.I'm going to take a look at it this weekend..I'll let you know what I Find..

loose turn signal

I took the car to a Benz sho and asking $280 to replace it claiming there are electrical switches that are critical inside that assy. Can somebody confirm if thats true, will it cause short in the system? I tape the cover using electrical tape for now and its staying in place. Any suggestions anybody?
