300e Pops when turning

300e Pops when turning

My 88 300E is making several strange sounds of late. It started last week with a groaning sound when I turned left. Now, it pops loudly when I turn left or right.

Any ideas? I figure it's ball joints but I don't know how to test for that or what a normal one looks like.

Thanks in advance for any help.
