1994 e-320 no start but cranks over

I did some work on the coolent side of the engine took the radiator out and cleaned also cleaned the condenser coil. also put in new aux. heatpump and valve the one by the battery. put it back togather and now no start. It cranks but will not run.
I get a code 17(data exchange malfunction between individual control module)
and with the code reader I built on pin 8 the light is on with out pushing the button. It gets a little brighter when I do push the button.
Any thoughts would be helpfull Thanks

Test the fuse on top of the OVP and tap that relay and retry.

Ant signs of cracked insulation on the harness??????????

Thanks for the reply. the fuse checks ok and I rapped the relay and still no start. the harness looks good but will look farther.

You have fuel pressure at the test port on the fuel rail????

thanks for the help again A. Dalton, I found the small female socket on the OVP plug was pushed back and I think not making contact, when I pluged the OVP relay back on I made sure all the pins were seated and tried it and it started and then went and did some errands and it started every time

Very Good.
I would pull that OVP to make sure the new upgraded one has been installed. Do a search on OVP and compare the part# on the side of yours ..if it is the Orig, change it regardless, as the old version is crap....

Behind the battery, aluminum relay. Part 000 540 52 45.
Change it to 000 540 67 45 .

AD: for us mear mortals, the OVP is what? Thanks

Over Voltage Protection relay.
Smart fuse voltage/spike protection for ECU ...and b/c that engine is full electronic , the OVP signal is needed for fuel and ignition from engine management systems.
VERY common fail part....a bad one can even cause it to rain on your Birthday...........
