95 E320 OVP/Fuel Pump Diagnosis - Need opinion
95 E320 M104 W124
Good Morning, It will crank and will not start. I have already replaced the fuel pumps and fuel pump relay. The fuel pressure has been tested at the rail near the intake. I can only get an "at rest" reading of around 40psi. The pumps are currently off and I have applied current to them to see if they will spin. They do. I have also attached a multimeter to the leads going to the fuel pumps to see if what current is being delivered. As near as I can tell, it isn't getting current. My testing methodology could (read probably) be horribly flawed. The reading from the multimeter was monitored in all different key positions. No change. This problem started with the engine running normally for about 8 minutes or so and then it would just die. No sputter, it just cut out. If I left it rest for a few minutes it would start back up, for another 8 mins or so. This happened for a few more times until if would no longer start. I did some research here and started with replacing the fuel pump relay behind the battery No change. The fuel pressure was around 25 psi at the rail. I then replaced the fuel pumps. If it is the OVP I could REALLY use some input on how to test it. I just called in an order for a new OVP. If no one is available to tell me where I am wrong, I will install it by tomorrow morning in the hopes it fixes it. |

I'd bet the OVP will cure your problem...
Here's a thread I started on my very similar problem... OVP was the cure... http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=224600 -GH
