W126 engine mount

After getting the dealer to change the engine mount for my S500 W140 -- A$2500 job. I decided to have my W126 380SEL changed as well. Does anyone know whether I can get it done cheaper?

Engine mount?

Did I read it wrong or did you pay $2500 to have the engine mount replaced. If that's the case someone saw you coming. I assume you meant $250 for both front mounts. Am I correct?

Michael Tse 09-05-2001 12:17 AM

Yes, I spent A$2500 or USD1250 to have my engine mount replaced in Australia!!

Do you think it is too much??? They charged nearly 4 hours of labour with A$800 worth of parts.

Motor Mounts

I didn't realize you were talking about Australian money. How much is that in American money?

Michael Tse 09-05-2001 01:26 AM

It would be about US$ 1,250

As Stan Pittman eluded to, motor mounts/labor for a W126 car in the U.S. runs somewhere between $250 - $350 depending on where you live.

If you paid the U. S. equivalent of $1250.00 you got ripped off and I make this statement assuming that ALL they did was change 126 motor mounts.

The US$1,250 was spent on my W140 S500. The engine mount was the only thing chnaged.

I am now wanting to change my W126 engine mount. I do not mind paying for the parts but do anyone know how long a job it is s to have it done?
