1994 E420 Sunroof problem

Our sunroof barely moves. The motor seems to be weak and the sunroof jams when popping up or down into position. It is slow when sliding open and closed. Afraid I'm going to blow the motor. Do I need to remove the cable and lubricate it?

My wife just called me saying there was a loud screech coming from behind the back seat (sunroof motor). No more noise for now, but the sunroof is slower than ever. We just pop it up when in the sun. Now it needs a push to pop open and to close. I need to fix this one myself to save money. Ideas? What was the noise?

Clean and lube the S'Roof rails.

Noises from S'Roof are generally coming from your Pocketbook/Wallet.

These things are very easy to BREAK.

'Force it or parts of it at your peril !

The sliders in the picture below are Felt covered Rubber. They slide on
Stain-Less Steel Rails. When the Lube (Glietepaste,a special lubricant
that DOES NOT attract dust or dirt.) wears off: 1. The Sliders felt
coverings Go. 2. The motor clutch has to work harder. 3. Something
Expensive to R+R breaks(expensive because the labor is @ $100.00 p. hr.).

The two middle links dont work. Are their other links to this info? Is the server down? Thanks for the help. Sounds like I need to do some homework on this one.

Yeeeeees!

Top of the page SEARCH button then ADVANCED SEARCH,enter Sunroof
(or ritual suicide caused by attempted sunroof repairs) in the block on the left.

It's a complex little monster,But if you take your time and don't get pressed
for time...It'll be sliding like a Greased Pig by Labor Day.

Call The Classic Center in California in the A.M. and order the 2 disc CD set of
the Factory Service Manual.

1(800) 222-0100 will give you their number.

(I don't know what's wrong with the links they are not mine.)

And ,Yes you have lots of reading to complete.

Another hint: Do Not attempt to remove the fasteners that secure the actual
Sunroof itself UNTIL you understand EVERYTHING about it's "Adjustment"
inside the framework...That "Adjustment" correction at the Stealer is what
causes you to take out 2nd and 3rd mortgages.
