124 stalling

My 1989 300te stalls quite frequently when coming to idle (like stop signs, lights, around turns when the rpm's drop)...What do I do? How do I even start to figure this out? It doesn't happen all the time, but enough to be concerned. Turning up the idle does not help...it's something else.

Probably your OVP = Over Voltage Protection relay. Behind Plastic behind battery.

How would I know for sure?

1990 300te - 145,000 miles 124 body style

I have the exact same problem. Car dies upon firm braking often when coming down a hill. It has done it on me 3 times in the exact same part of town. This just started about 3 months ago. Car is in pristine shape with all the typical tune-up items done with the past 12 months (including the OVP relay).

When the car dies it feels like an electrical problem because it cuts out all at once and all the dash lights come on. There is no sputtering or hesitation as if there was a fuel problem.

Eliot, check the condition of the voltage regulator brushes. If the voltage regulator is the original the brushes may be worn down so far that there is an intermittent low voltage condition.
