The intake(upper) (air box) this is the area just below the fuel distribution body, is wet on both the cars I own, I thought well if both are wet it must be normal but after some more thought I realize it can not be normal. This area is before the injectors so how can it be wet?, now the 420 has a stutter when started as if chocking on a to rich mixture then a puff of black smoke from the exhaust very light but black, then the engine smooths out and runs fine, the EHA and potentiometer are all within there respective parameters. the other car also has the wet intake but it has a hard start when hot like vapor lock, if you hold the key till the fuel pressure is up and it runs any Ideas? The o-ring on the fuel distributor most likely is leaking.
ON those cars that o-ring CAN be replaced. Somewhat tedious job, making sure to get the nut back into the same position is critical.
