PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum - 2000 C230 Stop lamp light location... need help.

I have a 2000 C230 Kompressor. My BAS ESP light is on and my car wouldn't shift out of Park. After reading some of the threads... I figured out how to unlock it @ the shifter.

I purchased a new stop lamp switch... after reading more articles here and want to replace it in my car. I can not see where this switch goes. I have a compartment above the pedels that opens up... but can not tell if that is the correct area. I am not a mechanic... but not overly stupid when it comes to vehicles. :)

Could anyone give me a little more information on where I should be looking? A picture would be great.

The threads said it was pretty easy to replace... but they all start out with "after you have removed the switch..."
