What Next???

Okay so the key isn't the problem... What sould I do about the other two things thats wrong? Does it have to go to the dealer? How much will parts cost?

I didn't say the key wasn't the problem. I said the door receiver wasn't. The 1996 model is a transistion one and early models don't have drive authorization. Late ones do but they have a large black ring around the ignition lock cylinder. You would have a drive authorization code if it were the problem.

Does it have to go to the MB dealer for the other problems the MB tech fount?

It needs to go to someone who can fix it. There are many independents who have purchased the diagnostic tooling from MB and are capable. It's hard to say who has the knowledge but a good bet is that anyone who has a MB SDS diagnostic computer would know how to diagnose your car.

It just has to be something simply... If it starts it dies immediately. I just wish I could get this up and running, other than not starting she is a great car!

Do you have a different key to try? Your key may be bad.

BTW

Its getting expensive because your "throwing" parts at it. This is very foolish and expensive.

Transponders go bad, Ive replaced a couple- But at this point dont spend a drop of money on it if you dont know exactly what the prombelm is. If that means going to the dealer then so be it. Its not appering to be a "simple " problem
