ABS light on 97 C230

After an alternator and battery failure, the ABS light came on and does not go out. Is there any way to reset the ABS system?

Be sure the overvoltage relay is ok. This will cause the light to stay on after a jump start or charging. It is located on the passengers side under the plastic over.

Same problem

I have exactly the same problem and the same car C230 1997, it hapenned after and emergency braking, it stayed on and has been on for the last 3 month. You mentioned the overvoltage relay, but how do you test if it is OK?
Is there a way of resetting the light or errasing the error? I have replaced the brake pads and the rotors since the incident and cleaned the magentic sensor that reads the teeth on the wheel and nothing, there has to be an easy and simple way of solving this, please help, any ideas are welcome. Thanks.

Is there a fuse?

I've been reading other threads, and some suggest a fuse that controls the OVR, is this true and if so where would it be? The also say that it's inside a box that requires an alan wrench to open????

Look under the plastic cover on the right side under the hood area, see if you see some visible fuses and check those out.

I wonder if you guys have some sort of relay problem. I don't know how to test for those, but they are located under the fuse box in C-classes. U have to unscrew the fuse box and under that plate is where the relays are. Might want to look into this a little more.

C230 Abs

BENZMAC, you seem to know about this more than anyone, I don't like guessing I think is not necessary, does the OVR has a specific fuse that protects it? This is a "yes" or "no" question, if yes where is it? not maybe in the trunk, or maybe in fuse box under the hood or maybe under the plastic cover under the hood on the passenger side.

If "NO", where is the OVR exactly, no guessing, I'll find how to test it, relays are switches, very simple to test, they either close/open or not.

Thanks for all your help guys, good day....
