210 wagon leveling rear suspension swap
Would it be possible to convert a wagon to have standard shock absorbers, like the ones used on the sedans that don't have the self leveling components?
My dad's '99 E320 had the system give out and now it rides like the shocks were replaced with steel bars. |
Any thing can be done! BUT, on newer cars like that...not worth the time, $$$, & effort.
Have the accumulators replaced, not $$$ and easy to do. |
I agree with changing the accumulators. I just had this done on my SEC-not difficult, not too expensive, and rides like it is supposed to!

I just had the accumulators replaced on my wife's wagon yesterday. It made a tremendous difference in the ride. I bought them from an on-line supplier for $147 each (Canadian) and my mechanic charged me two and a half hours labour, including going through some other diagnostic steps with the SLS system, bleeding the system and dealing with one accumulator that was difficult to detach from the hydraulic line.

I Replaced the Rear self level struts with Bilstein Sport shocks on my W210 Estate..Springs remain the same
You will also have to replace the Power steering pump and remove the lines going to the rear |
