"Should the fuel pressure regulator hold a vacuum? I applied my mightyvac to it and it does NOT hold any vacuum."

Who knows, who cares.

Do you have any idea how to do the base set-up and mixture setting after a distributor replacement. If not you now have atleast that problem plus the original one to deal with.

What is your system pressure?

Sorry to bring this up again but Steve is on the ball here.

Re: the FPR holding vacuum -- I was just grasping at straws... thought maybe I had stumbled onto something. Oh well!

No, I have no idea how to do the base set-up. Nor do I have any idea what the fuel pressure is since I do not have a pressure gauge.

I guess I was hoping that there were a limited number of very specific conditions or faults that would allow pressure at the inlet to the distributor, but no fuel at the injector lines.

In that case, it sounds like it's time to have my friend tow the car to a shop. It's getting too complicated at this point, and he just wants the car running well enough to sell it anyway, I believe. Thanks for the advice regardless!
