HELP PLEASE-Electrical Issue in Steering Wheel
Hello,
When my steering wheel is in the normal position (Driving Straight). My horn and all electrical in steering wheel will not work. If i turn steering wheel to the left or right about 3 inches then it works until i straighten the wheel. I would like to diagnose and fix my self but would need assistance. Could someone send me in the right direction and how to take off parts of the steerring wheel if needed? I am guessing a loose or frayed wire somewhere. Phil;) |

The electrical connection from the steering wheel to the column uses a "clock spring".
As you turn the wheel that clock spring wraps itself tighter one way & will unwrap the other way. That clock spring is most likely the issue. Has the can been aligned recently OR been in a wreck?? Care & caution is requires as the air bag must be removed to access the steering wheel & then the clock spring. |
Clock Spring
Hi,
No alignment recently and no wreck. So it seems that i will neeed to locate this spring. Can you point me to a procedure on accessing this part? I know i have used these posts before and they had step by steps taht were awesome. Any help would be appreciated. Phil |
Dealing with the SRS system requires extreme caution!
Removal of the steering wheel & air bag is required. |
OK thank you very much!
