97 c230 w202 intermittent no crank

i have a 97 w202 c230 with 138k that has a no crank issue at times. It hasn't left me stranded but the problem is progressing. When i go to crank it it used to take a extra second or two and then the starter would engage. All the lights on the dash are normal and no low voltage. Now it is a 4-5 second delay which isn't long enough to shift it in neutral. Was wondering if someone had any ideas? Ignition switch problem? Does this have a neutral safety switch since its 722.6 transmission? Should i turn/roll a fuse? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks again guys
