leaking fluid from rear

I just had my car in for a tail pipe repair. (190-e-2.3) 1987.
Now it's leaking antifreeze from the rear. Did he do something wrong???? The leak is coming from behind the rear tire on the drivers side. What's that????

Something does not sound right here. Look in your trunk and see if there is any standing liquid in the trunk behind the tire in that side. There should not be any hoses running through this area that carry antifreeze. What color is the liquid that you are seeing?

Was the car on an incline when you noticed the leak?

I would locate where the antifreeze is dripping and visually follow the trail until you locate the source.

I have had antifreeze leaks which made its way down the car frame.

A tail pipe repair should not cause an antifreeze leak.

If your leaking antifreeze from your tailpipe you may have a blown head gasket ....... that would not be a good thing. don't let me scare you though. i would have the situation diagnosed by a qualified technician if the fluid is comming out of your tailpipe! i have had this happen before on a $15,000 racing engine. with great luck the engine didn't hydrolic rendering the engine destroyed. during disassembally i noticed four cylinders were completely filled with antifreeze! LUCKY ENGINE?!:D
Good Luck,
Adam

Thanks guys, for your quick response! Maybe I didn't make myself clear about the place of the leak! It's leaking not from the tail pipe
but from the area behind the rear drivers side tire. The liquid is green floruscent. Thanks again

Either something of this color was spilled in the trunk - check the side bins and spare recess - or you drove through a puddle of it and it was flung up under the wheel weell, and is now draining down.

As others said, there is no source of coolant near this part of the car.

If you reach under the edge of the rear quarter panel you will finda short rubber hose shaped drain. It is shaped like a heart valve if you feel up in the rubber hose with your finger. This is the drain for the area at the outer edge of the trunk. Check inside the trunk above the leak and see what you find.

Usually what happens is that heart valve gets dirty and will not allow liquid to drain from the trunk. You have to wiggle the heart valve with your finger to get it to drain.

Good luck and God bless America,

Did you have a jug of antifreeze in the trunk that spilled?
