This looks amazing! I am currently having some weird problems with my M11.960 hfm engine / w124 and want to try this out.
Can anyone be so kind and show me where i can buy the interface to connect my car to my laptop? Thanks! |

Please find updated HFMScan here www.mediafire.com/hfmscan. According to HFMScan author, You don't need carsoft adapter, any 10$ USB k-line like USB KKL 409 on ebay should work.
You will need a odb2 to banana plug adapter like http://www.autoditex.com/img/Products/Car-diagnostic-cables/OBD2f-4banana.JPG |

I have a 95 G320, 104.996.
I've been searching for a scan tool other than building a blinker. Am I to understand a simple cable with the banana ends into the 16 pin port, and terminated on a serial port will work?? no muliplexor hicky-ma-doodle in between? Does anyone have a picture of what I need to make this work? I can t seem to find the parts for sale that were mentioned. Incredible.. thanks!!!! Zimm |

Thanks for posting the link and to Misha for making the program.
However, is there a version that isn't in a .rar compressed form? Maybe a .zip or full files? I have not been able to find a one use rar expander and would rather not pay $ 29 to Rarlabs for something that will get used once. Thanks |

all my parts are in, i think.
part 1) K-line cable. usb to the laptop female OBD2 connector attaches to... Part 2) 10' OBD2 cable. The male end attaches to the K-Line cable, and the other end i solder on the banana plugs to wires (OBD2 pins) 1, 16 and 8. i suppose thats what i want to make sure. the 10 OBD2 lead has an unfinished end with 16 wires hanging out, and i need to make sure im using the proper three.

You can read the error, delete them. You can test the motor and send the result (address) and provide recommendations to eliminate the problem. Live data - write on e-mail (readme_eng.txt is) |

One can build the Interface.
I know this is an old thread, but may still be very useful.
If you know your way around in electronics you could built the interface yourself. This is not a breadboard project, although there are ways to merry SMD to a pre-drilled board. I had a look at the interface components and schematic diagram. It seems easy enough to lay out a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) and put the few components on it. There is only one catch. The MC33290 has been discontinued by Freescale. The good news is that I found a direct replacement part MC33660. Same electrical data and housing as the 33260. Quote:
I have been working with electronics for many years, which included design, research and development of control circuitry analog and digital. I hold an BSEE (Electronics Engineering) No, BS does not stand for what just crossed your mind! It might take 3-4 Weeks from 1/31/2014 until the first interface is done. Cheers, Norbert
