82 mb 380sec idile speed up and down!,help
i have 1982 mb 380sec
and i start the car and it idles the rpm and oil presure gauges up and down!,, the rpm goes from 500 to 650-700 and the oil presure gauge is going up and down from 3 to 4... any idea why,,, and also the air breather under the big air filter,,the big aluminium holl the little round thing is going up un down also!.... any help will apreciate |

Could be a vaccuum leak.

i checked all vacums and they are fine,,
i even spray some brake cleaner on the air vacums but,,looks ok,, it does when hot also..

They all do that when they age,I have not seen a smooth running 380SEL/380SEC in 20 years,the "computer" needs to be resoldered,vacuum leaks,the factory spec copper spark plugs,Made in Germany are nowhere to be found in the last 10 years,the ones that Bosch makes in India are not 2 alike,terrible,so,one cannot even tune the car properly,the platinum plugs are a no no for this car...then it runs rich,black smoke,and so on,get use to it,and if you get better then 12 mpg,it runs fine.

the spargplugs i did change them before and i have the "" ngk v-power spargplug"cooper,, well my story is this:: the car was for 2 years in my backyard,,then i went to smog it,,and it failed,, i did a tuneup ,fuel filter,oil,air filters,spargplugs and wires,rotor and cap,catalic convertor,o2,water terhmostat,belts,clucth fan, and went again to smog and feild the secound time,,the smog guy toldme that it was running rich,,so i take to shop to fix my mixture,, 3 days latter decided to put 89 grade gas in top of 91 grade,,went to work,,stay for 6 hrs,,start the car went about 10 block then i looked in my mirror and the car was smoking like hell,,so i stoped and check oil,,water,,and leaks,,but none i found... home in y garage check for the ignition sparg,,all okay,,but when i took all sparg plugs out cilinder nr 4 was flowading ,,so i went in top at the fuel distribuitor and untigh nr4,5,6 to make the difference how much gas was pushing out,,, just turnning the engine,,and nr4 it was floading bad,, so i change the fuel distribuitor,,and some guy from a german repair shop told me that i need to readjust the mixture again,, my sparg plugs are smoking black,,shold i replace or clean them...? but about the rpm or idle going up and down it did this before,, i have to fix the mixture and look better to make sure i dont have a leak,,i alraidy check twice,,but i will checked again...

well,last night i took out the holl intake to have a look under it,,to see if any cracks,,and then this
but when i open the all thing apart the inside is no crack,,so that means thats good,,, so now i have to deal with the mixture,, i notice that few days ago i mess with the mixture screw and now when start ,,does not stay running ,it dies,, ,,well today i will put every thing togheter and start and try to adjust the mixture,,,
