1983 380 SEL no start after run

Ran the car for roughly 4 hours on a mid 30's WI day. Drove to the fuel station, filled her up. Then no start. Engine will 'cough' but not run. Turns over fine. Timming chain (double roller) was checked last year & OK. No sound of valves hitting pistons. Compersion seams OK.
Any hints?
