i HAVE A 1983 sec AND i HAVE THE id vin#wdbca43a6db004990 My question is that it seems there maybe a replacement engine, as I can see some part#'s on the valve covers written on them. Is there a specific Engine number that will reveal what engine I have in the car? It runs like a bat out of hell- I have had a 380 SL and it was sorta sluggish...this car is a rocket...any help is much appreciated...thank you forum!:rolleyes:

The car came with engine number 116.963-12-024558.
That number is on the block behind the drivers head..a pain to see.
