83 380 fuel pump relay issues

#7 pin shows signs of overheating & car will start with jumping #7 & I believe #3.
Will problems in the fuel pump cause amperage to spike beyond the 6-8 amps another post stated this will tolerate?
What is the normal draw (amps) of this pump?
Relay had some silicone on the case but board does not show any new solder & looks great except slight burned white/yellow plastic on the pin interface.
Any clues? Advise?

Well, if that is the original circuit board that is 25 years old??? I don't think you have a problem. Normal draw is 6A with a max of 8.5A.

Yes, running at 9-10A will burn out the circuit over a long time. That is 1 of the reasons MB went to 2 pumps on many of the 1986 & later cars.

Thanks Doc.
I'll check the amps.

FYI: It isn't all that unusual to have a head gasket failure on one of these six cylinder engines on a car with significant mileage, :D
