1990 300e 2.6 spark plug wire question
I'm new here and recently own a 1990 300e 2.6 . It doesn't have the spark plug wire holders and is missing the outer most distributor cap cover. Do the wire holders have any thing that attaches them to the valve cover or do they just slip into the slot in the valve cover. Could someone provide me a picture of what the correct setup looks like? My email address is dang5001 at yahoo dot com. Also, after reading all the posts about resistor spark plugs and lack of sources for non resistor spark plugs is the best approach to find non resistor wires and use the readily available resistor plugs?
Thanks, Dan |

The plug wires lay in the slot on top of the valve cover and are held in place by a set of plastic channel brackets that run the length of the valve cover, one below and one above the wires. The part numbers are: 103-159-04-40 (upper) and 103-159-05-40 (lower). The outer cap to the suppressor housing is part #103-158-06-85. All of these parts are inexpensive and available through the forum sponsors or MBz.
There's been a lot of discussion about non-availability of non-resistor plugs, but I haven't had any difficulty locating them over the years, and AFAIK they are available from NGK, Bosch, and Champion (and of course from MBz).
