Need help bad!

1992 190E 2.6

Runs hot, water boils out of the overflow hose.
Both fans are working
Thermostat has been changed
Collant replaced

There seems to be no leaks
no water in oil or oil in water

Water pump not leaking, seems to be ok
also when it runs hot there is no pressure on the upper radiator hose.

Radiator cap replaced or not?

nissanzx1 12-03-2008 02:12 PM

What's the service history of the cooling system? Has the coolant been replaced/flushed regularly? If not, there is a chance that the old radiator is gummed-up inside. It happened to me, but mine fell victim to a head gasket leak...

Does the car blow hot air when the heater is on?

Does it heat up and boil over pretty quick, or does it take a while and heat up gradually? If quick then I am guessing head gasket. If gradually then I am guessing clogged radiator. Based on what you said I am guessing head gasket but that is just a guess. Can you look into the radiator and see any of the tube ends? That might give a clue as to the condition, whether they look clogged or not. I don't have specific knowledge of that car however. Have you tried searching on "190 overheating" etc? Head gasket problems are often systemic to certain engines.

This thread talks about an eroded water pump which is pretty interesting. I never heard of that before.
