I have had my 1993 320E W124 about 3 months, bought during the winter here in New Zealand. The engine tempreture has looked fine with the needle mid scale. However i have noticed that when going up a hill the temp gauge will rise slightly. I thought that this was normal because my old 1973 280SE did the same. It is now summer and very warm. The other day going down a steep hill trying to avoid road works I put the auto shift lever into 3rd, I forgot about it for about 10 minutes and then going up another hill the temp gauge really started to climb the needle nealy reaching max. I pulled over and waited an hour for the engine to cool. Turning the ignition on while the car was stationary I could hear the fan come on. I carried on after an hour as the temp came back to normal but i am now worried that there may be a problem. according to receipts given when I bought the car it has had the radiator replaced in Feb 2006. Would somebody please give me some advice about this.
