w126 a/c auxilary fan

I'm wondering if anyone know how to test the auxilary fan for the a/c. it doesn't seem to be kicking in when the a/c is on.
The a/c works o.k. and I've run power to the fan and that powers up o.k. But it dosn't want to kick in while running. I Checked and replaced the fuse. Any ideas.
Thanks Mark
