Well, I'm looking forward to the day when that's all I have to worry about fixing on the Dee8gonator.

On a 126, there's not much to the circuit. There's the temp sensor, and the temp display unit, which is a separate little box that is attached to the instrument cluster.
If you're getting bad readings, it's either the sensor or the box, probably the sensor. -tp |

At least it's accessible with going to a lot of trouble.

Outside temp sensor.
There is a repair part available to fix the outside temp sensors that use the separate temp guage, mostly 80s and 90s. It comes with a long lead, maybe ten feet in length, and can be spliced into the original lead at any place that its convenient. The system works by reading the resistance of the sensor tip. It doesn't care about the length of the wire. Later vehicles use a plug in sensor that provides an input that is shared to multiple systems.

Well... I'll have to do something because I ended up buying that car.
Nice car it is though. More to come when I get some pictures up and some details. It is a mechanically sound one though. Probably paid a premium for that but not too bad I don't think. I am a member of the Wagon club now though.
