My 2005 C230 is runing too cold...Why?
Hello fellow MB owners,
I need a little help...I have a 2005 C230 and have lately noticed that the car takes 15-20 minutes to get up to temperature, where previously, it took just a few minutes. my gas mileage has also suffered. I purchased a new thermostat but haven't installed it yet. I was hoping to get some advice from the forum prior to doing so. Any assistance is appreciated! Thanks! |
My advice is install the thermostat!

i had similar issue, eventually set a code , dont recal which one, but get yourself some mb coolant or try to save what you have if it is the blue stuff, mb says the blue is good for 15 years or 100k miles, was a leaking thermostat, it has a little seal around the valve area, was actually hanging the unit open

Just change the thermostat! 15 mins and the problem will be solved!

what you have described is a classic thermostat that never closes.hard to notice in the warm or hot weather but becomes very obvious in the cold.your cars fuel injection is also reacting to the cold engine temp and delivering a richer mixture until warmed up,hence the higher fuel usage.
