Any good "Indie's" in Minneapolis?

Hi Guys,

I recently moved from South Fl to downtown Minneapolis, MN. "DON''T ASK" lol....

I had a great indie there who I actually miss a lot!!

I am wondering if any of you are MN residents and can refer me to any good local indies in or near the downtown area? I''d REALLY appreciate the help.

Also I have seen mention of "Code Readers" for $45 bux... can anyone tell me where I can find those?

Thanks, -MARC

Hi Marc,

I’m Kent, forum name “outofspec”, from Hudson WI; just across the river. Welcome to the frozen North. My family currently owns three Mercedes and I just recently lost my semi retired, work from home, Mercedes tech. Health problems forced him to retire fully. He had over 20 years of MB dealership experience. It’s been horrible. I almost would have rather lost my right arm then this guy. I’ve tried three indies since then and frankly have been disgusted with all three. This is a far different Mercedes market then you’re use to seeing in FL, and we just don’t have a lot of choices; at least that I can see. I’ve resorted to doing a lot of the work myself; at the very real risk of making matters worse. So far, so good; but I sure wish I had a good go to place when I really need them.

I just wanted to introduce myself, welcome you to the area, and give your post a bump as I am also intensely interested in a good indy solution in the Twin Cities.

Kind Regards,

outofspec

Hey there Kent,
Thanks very much for the nice welcome. I am glad to see someone else feels my pain! Oyyyy. It sucks because I too like to do things myself when possible but I am in a corner because I do not have a garage where I live. And laying out on the freezing cold ground IN SNOW is just not my cup of tea. Its really irritating because the "problem of the moment" for me is I need to replace my brake switch. I got the new one from my indie days before I made the trip to MN and I really should have just paid him to install it right then!

The stark change in demographics here has been something to behold indeed. In So FL easily every 3rd or 4th car you saw on the road was a Benz. Here I have noticed maybe 8 in 6 weeks! And even then so many of them have been in such poor condition! You hardly see any newer cars here period. I feel like I slipped into a time warp!

I just changed my battery on my own a few days ago, that was easy, it did not involve being on the ground! lol. I need to replace brake pads soon, and replace the winshield washer reservoir and jets! If we could just get ONE DAY over 35 degrees I could knock it all out in a couple of hours.

Anyway... I see its gonna be an interesting journey, I hope I do find someone I can depend on and feel good about and if I do I will certainly post here and let you know.

Thanks again Kent, take care

-MARC
