Oh no! - lost all my transmission fluid this afternoon

Just bought a '99 e320 with 83k last week. Had a pre-purchase inspection by a reputable indie shop and the carfax was 1 owner. It came with books. Everything seemed ok.

Drove to the store around the corner from house and noticed a leak. By the time I came and looked it was streaming out pretty good. Filled up an entire jar and then some. None.

I am planning on taking to my shop on Monday (I'm in Austin and the car was bought in Houston) but wanted to get any thoughts you folks might have on what the F this could be.

I know it's hard to diagnose with so little info but I'm just trying to educate myself.

I can still buy a warranty which I fear is what's going to need to happen.

Any thoughts are very much appreciated.
