oil
Good morning everyone. I would like to ask you guys what you think about Royal Purple Synthetic oil. The local auto supply store in my area carries this in 15w-40 but he recommends Redline synthetic oil but that brand does not have 15w-40. I can't find Mobil Delvac1 here in the BayArea. Hope to hear from you guys soon so I can make my decision. Thanks in advance.

Some of the people I know swear by them. One guy ran one batch for 26,000 miles on them with 5,000 mile oil analysis. After 25,000 miles, he chickened out and changed the oil.
It is an excellent oil but expensive. It runs between $4 - $4.50 per quart. They claim it is a synthetic oil but many say it is really a blend. The base oil is a synthetic and petro oil blend. Just yesterday, I e-mailed the company about this and the first reply was rather long. It said that some petro oils are better than synthetic, etc. I e-mailed back to ask them to classify their oil in therms of "Mobile 1" or "Mobil1 1 blend". So far I have not heard from them yet. Bo |
Redline does have a 15W-40 for diesels. See http://www.redlineoil.com/products.htm ! I notice you live in the Bay Area and Redline is located there. Roger
