Flywheel bolt torque
I have a rebuild project under way and I need to know the correct torque for the flywheel bolts on my '69 220D. The car has a 4-speed manual trans.
The bolts have 12-point heads, but do not appear to be stretch bolts. I have the torque sequence for later diesels, which involves tightening by angular rotation, and after experimenting with that, it seems way too tight for these small bolts. Does anyone know the proper torque for non-stretch bolts? Thanks for any help |
Yes MB had stretch bolts WAY back then, 25 ftlbs & 90deg angle of rotation is the correct torque!

What exactly does "90 degrees angle of rotation" mean?
