Snap-On Tool FLX-M13
Well, it looks like I have to replace the water pump on my '89 300E (M103). However, the tool of choice (FLX-M13) is no longer available. I tried online and the local Snap-On dealer. Also, dealer could not advise a replacement tool.
Anyone help with this? Is there a new number? Another supplier? Anyone wishing to sell theirs? Thanks, Paul |
I would think a 10 inch extension, swivel joint and 13 mm 12 pt socket would work. You can wrap electrician's tape around the swivel joint to stiffen it up a bit as necessary.

Lee, I think the tool you highlited may be the 6mm allen-head bit, which is used on one of the 4 water pump bolts (at least it is on my '91 300SE).
But that's the easiest one to get to, no big deal at all for a std allen wrench. The rear two are the buggers. I just did mine for the 3rd time two weeks ago, so it's fresh in my memory. I did get to all 3 of the 13mm bolt heads with a variety of sockets, wiggle-tails, extensions, etc. It's no cakewalk, but I did it without removing anything but the belt tensioner, and loosening the power steering pump a bit. Think Masochistic Contorsionist, and you can do it. DG |
I have one...
I recently found out you can also use it the FLX-M13 to remove the intake nuts and bolt. They are hard to get to. I used it when I replaced my head gasket. I am planning to keep it for ever now...

This link says you can call customer service to buy one but who knows...
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=2096&group_ID=257&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog The PN doesn't have a dash. I would bet you could find one on Ebay eventually. There was also a set PN FLXM804 |
FLXM13 will now be GFLXM13
I checked with Snap-On and was advised by them that tool FLXM13 has been discontinued and replaced with a new but similar tool (distributer wrench) with part number GFLXM13. Have no idea why this is - I was not told. Someone else may have an idea.
Hope this helps others. Cheers all. |
