re-keying a car
All, I have an 81 500SLC. The ignition key was replaced by the PO. Is there a way I can get a barrel made up to match the original keys?

Yes, you go to your local MB dealer with proof of ownership (title or registration) and they will order you a new ignition tumbler + key for about $110....then it will match the other locks on the car.
