Noob with a 190e 2.3 8v auto

As stated I have recently obtained a 190e with the 8v 2.3 and an auto.

It's got some issues, but I'm just gonna tackle 'em as they come.

1st, are there any major issues that I should be looking for b4 getting too involved in this car?

Known issues:
trans shifts hard and very late. I 'think' I need a modulator anyway.

heavy blue (oil smoke) smoke while awaiting shift (thinking modulator's gone and engine vac is drawing in trans fluid, but not checked yet.

hard start (guessing OVP, but have to do some reading and find out where it's located on my car). Once it's running, it runs quite well.

windows inop (figuring a connection somewhere from fuse to final)

Heater core presumed bad (bypassed) fun fun fun

Blower motor is on a toggle sw.

NON issues:
suspension is in excellent condition. new on all 4
interior is all but perfect.
I like the lil car.
.
Any advice or pointed reading material would be greatly appreciated
Thanks all!

Start with the trans modulator & see if that takes care of several issues.

OVPR is behind a cover behind the battery.

Thank you M.B.DOC

I'm hoping the modulator is causing the greatest problems, so thanks for the reply.

OVPR is single fuse and keeps blowing it (thanks for that info too, knowing where to look made finding it MUCH easier. LOL). Am I correct that when replacing it, it's best to get one with 2 fuses?

Also, how big a job is the heater core on this thing? Surely not worse than a Volvo 2XX I'm hoping.

Thanks again,
Frank
