Jacking/lifting a W126 without the factory jack? Where?
 

The place I have my 88' W126 setting where I have to raise it to replace the rear brakes is not going to properly allow me to use the factory jack. I tried using it, but once the jack rod is in the jack point hole on the rocker panel, the base of the jack is very slanted and not flat on the ground.

If I am to use a floor jack, is there any possible place to safely place the jack raise it without damaging the car? I was thinking perhaps there at the rear suspension area, but not sure if this would collapse or not.

First, 88' means eighty-eight feet. Do you mean '88?

Second, there should be a pad directly below the jack-hole, lift there.

The jack straightens up as the car goes up. Once you get it up you can slide some jack stands under it, then relax the jack just enough to put weight on the jack stands. But you can take a floor jack and lift the car at the same point just move in a bit and get the jack in the middle of the door jamb. You should still use jack stands.

yeah, the jack base will flaten out once you jack it up, don't worry I have used it many times.

To jack up the front use the front subframe, NOT the oil pan. For the rear use the diff. pumpkin.

Careful when using the factory jack....Chock those wheels!! I had our 300E roll off the factory jack :eek: Thankfully it still had the wheels on and nothing bad happened. Thats the one thing I don't like about the factory jack, its not very stable unless you lock the wheels very well.

Well, I went out alittle while ago and felt that "pad" under there that one was referring to. I will probably use a floor jack at that area if it is indeed a sturdy area to use when raising the back of the car.

Naturally, one of the pads on the back is missing.... had to place a block of wood there. :rolleyes:
