W202 Monoblade wiper major problem!
So I was driving in the snow and my wiper blade got stuck halfway up, I eventually just pushed it down manually figuring I'd re-lubricate it later. Now when I turn the wiper on nothing happens! No sound from the wiper motor or anything, I checked the fuses too.
What did I do? Did I burn out the wiper motor or is it some other electrical problem? Any help would be great. |
Did you try all speeds? The switch sometimes fails.
|
Yes, i tried it at all speeds with the engine on and off. I'm wondering what I broke when I moved the blade back down manually-especially since it was cold out

It's either electrical (switch, relay, fuse, wiring) or mechanical gears. You can get the transmission gear here. If it's the motor gear, it's suggested to buy new:

Definitely check electrical first. Pushing snow around can overload the motor. I believe those motors have a thermal overload too - not sure how easy it is to repair though.

ok thanks. I also tried to get at the relays behind the fuses but was unable to pull them out, i don't know if they have some kind of release or what, any advice?

they are tight and hard to grab. Just rock them a little and work them free with your fingers.

The blade is just stuck. This happened to my 202. I took some graphite lock lube (spray can) and put a few drops on the protruding shaft, waited an hour and then tried it and it worked its way free. I think the culprit is the use of deicer spray which then leaks down and de-lubricates the shaft. It should be lubed from the inside but darn if I know how to do it.

Mono Wiper Lubrication Post

Yeah I did already try re-lubricating all the moving parts that I could and still no luck. So now I'm assuming I need to replace the wiper motor, is that something I should try and tackle myself??
Thanks to everybody for all their insight! |
