could someone list the various symptoms of wiring harness failure they have seen? ASR and limp home seem to be the most common. Are there others?

I don't think 1992's had wiring harness problem.

I have two 1992s. One was wrecked and I removed engine form one and put it in the other 1992 and harness on both cars was fine althought a little stiff in some places.

Very easy to check -- just look at the brown ground wires on the top of the engine.
Insulation rot is obvious, crumbles if touched.
In my 1994, it was everywhere, but a simple repair.

The only 92 with the congenital wiring harness issue is the 400E. Most common symptom for all is misfiring. ASR and limp home so many possible causes - bad wiring harness not really a significant one.
