Is my dome light telling me something?

'90 300SE W126.

I have noticed a few times that when I get in my car and put the key in, the dome light begins flashing in a manner that appears to be a code of some sort.

I think it is flashing 2 and then 3, but I'm not sure because it's only happened a few times. There may be some correlation with having the driver's door open, but again I'm not sure of the exact pattern.

Is there some barely documented anything that could explain this?

Maybe its just me, but I too have noticed this. It happened today in my '89 300E. I'll try to pay close attention from now on.

Sounds like a malfunctioning dome light to me. Its just a simple time-delay circuit. Sometimes they freak out if you open/close the switch in quick succession.....

Its not trying to tell you anything....

Cool. Good to know. It just seemed very much like an old OBD1 code....

thanks,
