79 280CE transmission shifting hard
 
My transmission shifts hard into 2nd but not into 3rd. Is there anything I can do?
Another problem is my blower only works on defrost and not any other settings.
Please help. Thanks

Transmission modulator adjustments should affect all trans shifts equally. How does it shift from 3rd to 4th?

On that system vacuum leaks will keep the fan from operating.

Your car probably has 4 gears. It starts in 2nd gear when in Drive. 1st gear is only activated if you floor it or shift down to low.

I tried shifting myself and it only changed gears twice. Does seem to need another gear but I got it up to 75 with no problems.

Trust the guys....it really does have 4 speeds.
Check your vacuum lines for leaks (especially the rubber nipples) - it can have effect with both issues, as MB Doc said.

Well if it ever stops raining I'll have to find a vacuum diagram. Any ideal where to find one.

I don't have a diagram for a gasser 123, but I betcha someone on here does, and may even have posted it, or provided a link for one. Try a search.
