1990 300te 4 matic No Self Leveling

Ok,

Last month it was icy here so I bought my wife a 4matic. It needed accumulators because the ride was bouncy. I replaced the accumulators, and now I noticed the self leveling suspension isn't self leveling. I attempted to free up the bleeder valve on the level controler, but to no avail (i.e. the line was not bled). Currently the rear bumper sits at 18 1/2 inches above ground, unloaded. which to me seems about 1-2 inches too low. I put the car back up on ramps and disconnected the level control lever bolt and manual moved the lever up and down, (with the car running and increased RPMs). but the rear end neither moved up or down. Please, what should I check now?

Never mind, I thought i would flush the system to test the pump, and I got flow from the "T" pipe. I then put the lever in fill position, and the flow stopped, maybe the air in the system needed the "T" pipe disconnected to be able to flush that much air out of the system, because after about 10 seconds, the car started rising!!!

Problem solved.

I tip on replacing accumulators, do NOT bend the hydraulic line to remove the accumulator, better to get a second person to remove it while you gently keep the pipe end out of the way.
