"Visit Workshop" warning message ???

My 2004 E320 is displaying this "Visit Workshop" message and is indicating one malfunction but does not say what is wrong. I connected an OBD 2 unit and found no codes displayed and this visit workshop message went away. However when I drove the car this message reappeared. Can someone explain what this all means as the manual makes no mention of this warning message?

Thanks, Ray

It sounds like a community service message of some sort. Maybe just go to a community college and take a workshop, like how to build a birdhouse or something like that, or better yet a workshop on how to clear vague German error messages.

There are several malfunctions that will cause this message, but I've never seen "Visit Workshop" without some additional text. When I read this thread, the Tele-Aid, Tire Pressure Monitoring, and Air-Matic systems were the first things I thought of. Are you certain there wasn't more information than just "Visit Workshop"?

Perhaps the car likes the tech at the local shop, and just wants to visit him. Hence the lack of any errors. :D

I'd get scared if it starts saying "I'd like to visit the workshop!" ...and then reverts to displaying it in German..

:D :D :D

the subtext that you missed was "spend many thousands of dollars" I hope this clarifies up things.
