w201 drivers/trunk lock troubles
Hey,
Earlier in the week perhaps wednesday..I took my 190 to the car wash and had it washed.. Thursday night I was at a friends house and it was around 1130 or so and I went to get in my car and I couldnt turn the trunk lock. It wouldnt turn either direction. I tried using force and all that succeeded in was making marks on the black plastic of the key. We took his car back to my place, I grabbed some PB Blaster and my AAA card.. Went back to his place, I sprayed the lock as best I could and it still didnt do anything..I let it sit for an hour or so, and miraculously it worked. Yesterday I used the trunk lock and it worked as it has in the past... Do you think that it water could have frozen the lock from turning? I dont have a passenger door lock. PO deleted it. The driver side doesnt work for some reason, I can stick the key in but turning it yields nothing. It used to engage the pump if I turned it sufficiently (or a few times) however it no longer does anthing.. If I were to repair that, would I need a new lock assembly or is there a portion that could be replaced just for the electrics to work? I've just ordered a keyless entry kit ($35) that I plan on installing. I had been for a while but didnt want to pay as much as I did for the one that is on my SD.. Any thoughts anyone- Thanks, Kris |
