My friend has one, owned from new - it has 80K. For some reason, the SLKs don't suffer from the reliability problems that other MB models have. The SLKs are actually well-built vehicles that serve their owners well. This is not just personal experience, but if you go to the SLK forums, other owners say the same thing.

I recommend the '73 Volvo station wagon for daughters: slow, unsexy, safe - to keep her out of trouble. Plus, with it's unreliability it will keep you involved in her life.

I have a 99 4 cylinder compressor. Plenty of power and outside of a leaky Roof hydraulic cylinder and a wet control module that had to be protected and dried out and cleaned the thing has been perfectly reliable.

Before I decided on the SL I drove the 230 slk kompressor and loved it. Plenty of power and the fact that the roof retracts with just the push of a button was great. But alas what killed the deal were the rock hard seats....so SL500 was my choice. Kchemers your an awfully nice dad.

Yeah, it was a wee bit hard on me bum . . . .

The 230 is a 4-cyl kompressor. My friend has the 320 V-6 (a non-kompressor), a very popular engine across many mercedes model lines. Most of the SLKs are 230. I think only 10% to 20% of the SLKs are 320.

Is there a kompressor version of the 320?
