E-420 Dies
I have a 1995 E-420. Recently, my car was having a bout of the ASR light coming on. I took it to a mercedes shop and had the trouble codes determined by their computer. The three things listed as an issue were:
1) Bad Stop Light Switch 2) Bad Throttle Body 3) Bad O2 sensor After this was checked, the car started dying on me. It would be hard to start after dying, then start and run for a while, and then die again. I've since replaced #2, and tried to replace #3 with no luck. With respect to #3, I couldn't get it to come loose. In reading it says to warm the car up. however, with the car dying shortly after starting, it's going to be very difficult to do that. I'm looking for the stop light switch to make sure that's not the problem. has anyone had this issue, and (if so) did you remedy it and how? Cheers, Rich |
There isn't a code for bad throttle body - it's best if you learn to read the code yourself. Do you have the special socket for the O2 sensor? The stop lamp switch is under the dash, triggered by depressing the brake pedal, cheap, might as well go ahead and do that.
