1999 C280 ignition stays on!! fried starter now! help!
 

hi today I go to start my car... the starter keeps on as if i am holding the key in! I even took the key out and it stayed on cranking the engine with no key! After about 5 mins or so it stopped... then it was fine, about 2 hours later it did it again, starting and starting ! now it's all quiet, the starter's fried I think, I am thinking this could be an ignition problem? do I need a new ingition part where the key goes in? or is there a relay somewhere that controlls this aspect of starting? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much.... also if you guys have a good place to get parts from as I may need some parts now... :)

Most likely the starter relay!

On that car it is built into a module called the K40 relay.
