Begging for help. 190e 2.6

Newbie to the forum and in need of any help. I am the proud owner of an 89 190e 2.6. Having problems with warm starts. The car starts fine when cold. When its hot and I shut it off, it will start fine unless i let it sit any more than 10 to 15 minutes. In which case it will take about 7 to 10 times of starting and stalling before it starts, huffs and puffs for about 5 to 10 seconds, clears up and once again runs fine. Almost like its choking itself out or something. I recently gave it a complete tune up and changed the coolant temp sensor. Im really racking my brain on this one. Any expertise would be extremely appreciated.

Most likely a internal fuel bleed off issue. Common on CIS engines.

TWO most common fuel bleed off places are the fuel accumulator & fuel pressure regulator.
Try searching the forum for those items.....of course connecting a gauge & seeing if the pressure bleeds-off would be the starting point.

I have a couple of questions about this:

Would the fuel accumulator & fuel pressure regulator be temperature sensitive?

If the fuel pressure bleeds down, would it take so long (7 to 10 starts) to get the pressure back?

Most likely there is fuel bleed-off all of the time.

But when cold the mixture is so rich that retaining fuel pressure isn't necessary.

A Hot soak restart requires that fuel is ready to be injected & no air in closed system.

Im going to hook up a gauge this week and see if it bleeds off. Your help is greatly appreciated. Ill let you know what I find as soon as i get to it.

fuel bleed off

fuel bleedoff causes vapour lock in a hot engine , hard hot starts .Most likely you will find it will be the fuel accumalator which is leaking , replace it and test .
