95 E320 vacuum line question

Hi all,

Could someone help me remember where these 4 vacuum lines hook up to?
If you go to this URL you see two white vacuum lines coming the box in the vicinity of the exhaust cam. I have pictures showing me where they go but not what they hook up with.
http://home.earthlink.net/~sasjzl/mercedesheadgasketreplacementjourney/

In the second picture I am trying to figure out what hooks up to that dashpot and also the rubber vacuum line that is right next to the throttle body that you cannot really see in this picture.

Thanks very much,
Jim Lee

EGR valve ontop of exhaust manifold thru spark plug area of valve cover.

I assume the ones in the first picture at the front of the cam. left to front EGR and right to rear EGR as veied in photo.

White single plastic line is feed to both EGR and AIR SOV valves. From their, one goes to the EGR and the other to the AIR operating valve.
Easy to mix up that connector, so be careful.

vacuum line confusion

Thanks guys. Bear with me though.

"EGR valve ontop of exhaust manifold thru spark plug area of valve cover.

Looking at the top picture. I am pretty confident about the the passenger side vacuum line going to the valve that is between the air pump and the engine. That is the 'left egr'. The drivers side line is that I am not sure about. I must have misplaced an additional vacuum line because as it is it is too short to go attach to anything past the front of the engine, just below the camshaft electronic thing. I see two places that this might go to. One, the silver egr valve looking pipe that sits on top of the front of the fuel rail that you can clearly see in the bottom picture. OR does it go to a blue connector further on the drivers side that splits off to two seperate lines that go deep below the intake manifold.

The next thing that I should have been smart enough to take a picture of is the u-shaped black rubber line that is between the fuel rail and the throttle body.

I took alot of pictures, I swear, I just did not take all that I needed to.

Thanks very much,
Jim Lee

I guess where you are confusing me is left EGR , etc.

There is only 1 EGR valve and it is at the right/rear of the engine ..that line connects to the SOV valve . The other SOV [ piggy-backed on the EGR one] feeds the AIR valve. That is the one I think you are referring to as an EGR valve. That is ahead of the EGR , closer to the SOV, and it is inthe pipe from the AIR pump. And both of those SOVs [ Switch Over Valves} are fed with the single /white plastic line.
The U shaped rubber line on the engine/left side goes down to the black plastic line that is way down on the left/front frame rail.
And the Fuel pressure regulator [on top of the fuelrail ] goes to one side of the Y connector.
You want the vac schematic????????

Still don't get it

Thanks very much Arthur but I still do not get where the white hose line that you see in my top picture going only as far as the camshaft timing thing goes. Is it the linei at the very front most part of the diagram where "Y32" is written? Transparent/Blue I think. I can see the fuel rail dashpot going to the y-connector. It looks like it should be going into 128 check valve but I do not see a check valve on the front, or near the front of the throttle body.

The bottom picture shows the hooked line that points downward at the throttle body. I cannot see any more vacuum lines under the intake manifold. The clear line that is guiding it into the throttle body is my addition. It is pretty clear that it goes somewhere beneath the manifold.
Is it absolutely necessary to remove the manifold?

Thanks,

I am trouble understanding your post.
There is no dashpot on that chassis and there are two white lines in you r unclearpictures,
The c/v is in the Y connector on the early chassis.

Re Arthur's Schematic

I have 94 e320. Maybe the following will help.

[a] Connector located on intake manifold nearest firewall feeds "135" one of two check valves located on top of brake booster.
[b] Connector located right rear corner of actuator using a "fat" hose feeds "Y58/1" [Removal of air intake tube makes it easy to access]
Connectors [c & d] located front of actuator
[c] "Y" feeds left port of Electric CrossOver Valve "Y27 & Y32" mounted on front of engine and Fuel pressure valve "40" on front of fuel rail.
[d] Single feeds "B5/2" mounted between "Y58/1" [labeled MOT] and fender edge.

Hi Arthur. Thanks for all your help especially with my actuator. Now up to 163 mi and running great.
