1985 Euro 500SEL found it way into my garage
I just nursed it home. Well it didn't run at all when I got there but ran to autozone and got a battery. When it first fired it was a no go but I took it around the block and ran noticeably better with some heat and fuel so I paid the lady and off we went.
I stopped and threw in a car of seafoam and topped it off with some fresh premium, probably still needs plugs wires et all but it ran OK and felt pretty tight. Shifted well, didn't overheat, good OP all the way home (35 miles) I will post some pics but it is a two owner car, brought stateside with 55K miles on it and now has 108K. Its is the cabarnet red over pachment and chromes and believe the wood is poplar, straight body with minor paint blems on the rocker (prolly bomb can it) and the interior is near excellent. Not working, cruise, drivers seat, center air vents, and the sunroof gets power but not opening. |
Nice save and find, how much did you get if for...

$1200. Ran my son home from school, its running very well. Is it just me or is that sea foam pretty good stuff?
More good news, I have found the motherload of records. This guy was a nut and trace it all the way back to his AZ odo reading of 55K and one prior to that. THis car wanted for nothing. :) Cruise does actually work and the HVAC is working properly with ICE cold air, the system was refurbished a couple of years ago and a few thousand miles back with R134 and its arctic! |

I just pulled the rear diff (and other parts) off that exact car at the junk yard last week! It was a blue 1985 500SEL Euro! It had: 330k on it. And the blue cloth interior. Amazingly, the diff shows virtually no wear inside....looks like they kept up with maintenance on the car.

I love every one that I come across. I am an addict. I hate to sell them and can't wait to get another. Eventually I will have to start keeping one or two. |
