What is this part called?
Hi all,
I am putting an E320 head back in/on and have a leak at the place where the heater hose comes out of the back and bottom of the head on the drivers side right. I remember when I took the head off it was a substantial metal piece that incorporated the rear lift hook and fit into the head with what I think was a rubber seal. I remember removing it before taking the head to the machinst shop and I remember putting it back in because if it was not there there would have been nothing to connect my new heater hose to. I have a clamp on it so the first thing I am going to do is check that for tightness. My question, finally, is how is that seal between the metal piece and the head maintained? I remember it being not easy to remove having to twist and turn it but I think I also remember it being held in by a bolt, or two. Does anyone have a picture or diagram of how this assembly goes into the head? I am removing the manifold in hopes that I can solve this leak without having to remove the head again but I will do what I gotta do. Thanks very much, Jim Lee 1995 E320 Wagon |

You rock Doc
Do you think I will have a fighting chance of getting to this (without removing the head again) if I remove the intake manifold? I have to do that anyway to find out how I lost at least one vacuum line.
I am learning more than I ever thought possible. Thanks very much, Jim Lee |
